Aswathama movie review: A differently similar thriller

Aswathama started out with a promising first half. Every character was there for a reason. The love story between Shourya and Mehreen was more prominent in the first half, as well. The songs were also enjoyable, especially Ninne Ninne.

As the story progressed, more and more violence was added in to the point where it was too much. The story did keep most of its grip, regardless of the violence on screen.

Besides the violence, the story follows how Naga Shourya solves the mystery rather than the actual mystery. It also shows that women are in need of help, and that an "immortal" man, who happens to be perfect in nearly every way, will always come to save them. This proves to be the case in most movies of this genre, but this movie stands out from the rest, even if by a little bit, because of how, or rather WHY it starts, which is due to the sibling bond between Naga Shourya and his stser (in the movie). This angle of the story makes the movie ever-so-slightly better than some other thrillers.

Naga Shourya, who is used to doing rom-coms, made it believable for us to see him in an "revengeful" (if that's the right word) role in this genre. Mehreen seemed to have a small role, although it did add a bit to the story. Because of the genre, however, it would have been better if she had more of a role.

Overall, this movie had a shade of difference to it when compared to other thrillers, but still had the same flaws, such as excessive violence.
